Memphis Cyclist Website (Creator: Michael G. Lander)
In April 2012, I created a new, innovative and comprehensive, "one-stop shop" concept for Memphis-area cyclists. Here is a link to the Memphis Cyclist website: http://memphiscyclist.com/index.html

- About Me
The genesis of the Memphis Cyclist website came about from a passion that had grown within me in recent years. I returned to cycling after a nearly 27-year hiatus, in which I had not ridden. I only started back to cycling after I registered for a 150-mile bike ride to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 2007. I purchased my first bike, a Trek hybrid bike, which continues to serve me well as a training bike to this day. I, subsequently purchased a Mercier road bike for the marathon rides that I occasionally do and, altogether, I have ridden in excess of 16,000 miles since then.
I developed my cycling website when I took a web publishing/design class at the University of Memphis in the Spring 2012 semester. As part of a final project, I chose to create a site for something that I was interested in and something that I would likely keep going after presenting it for a grade.
The inspiration to create the Memphis Cyclist website came about because I noticed that there was not any one place on the Internet to find everything that someone might want to know about cycling. I was especially intrigued with doing this because of the increase of bike lanes and bike trails in Memphis and the subsequent growth and popularity of cycling in Memphis and surrounding areas.
Aside from all of that, I also wanted to create this website in order to give something back to my community and to promote the charitable causes that I wish to support. I was featured in an online news story from WMC-TV 5's East Memphis hyperlocal website for this:

For me, cycling is more than just about helping me
to stay fit and healthy, but it is an instrument that I use for the
benefit of others. I continually strive to be an example for others and
encourage them to consider taking up a sport that has changed my life
for the better.
